Sorry, the Brantford show for tonight has been cancelled. Read more for info:
This Show is cancelled. We are really really sorry to everyone we
really wish we were playing.
This is what we know. Our booking agency talked to this promoter months
ago about doing a show. We were actually really busy but moved
everything around to make the date work. Then the promoter changed the
date of the show not once but twice. Each time the agency talked to our
management asked if that was ok and we moved things around to make it
work. Even moved another show once. Our booking Agency really really
didn’t want us to play this show at this point because he looked like a
sketchy promoter and has a history of not paying bands ect ect. We
pushed for them to let us play it and they said fine. Then he missed
the deadline for the contract and deposit twice in a row and they kept
telling him that they wont let us play unless he does it. (a standard
procedure that happens every single time anyone books us). One week ago
they told our manager they wanted to pull the plug. I really didn’t
want to so I found all the promoters and people involved with the show
on facebook and sent them all a message individually telling them what
the story was and to at least let me know what was happening so I could
talk to the agency and try to smooth it over and not even ONE of these
people even got back to me. The agency even gave him Two more chances
to figure it out and I even got them to wait until to today to give him
the benefit of the doubt. But they told him that by 400 today they
can’t wait any longer. 4:00 came and went and our management and agency
has decided johnstones are not going to play this show. We have much
respect for the agency and their ability to make the right decision,
they have never steered us wrong in the past and are responsible for
Johnstones being on tons of amazing shows. So I trust that they are
making the riht decision. There is a 100% chance we wouldn’t have
gotten paid and 75% chance other sketchy things will happen. As well,
if a promoter can’t be on the ball enough to sign a contract in the 3
months he was bugged every week, what does that say about how hard he
likely promoted the show. Mean Tangerine Will Not be Playing Either, I
have not talked to staylefish yet but it is very unlikely that they
will be there. As a band we did everything we possibly could to make
this show happen and really went out of our way for this guy. We feel
really bad about this whole thing and Im sorry to everyone who was
going to come to the show. For those of you who bought presale. Demand
your money back. Please try to spread the word so no one shows up
expecting us there or Mean Tangerine. (and most likely Staylefish)
Again, - really sorry about this whole thing and we did everything we
possibly could as a band until we were proven wrong, and made look
stupid for pusing so hard to our agency to be trusting to this
promoter.
